Congratulations on your up-coming Wedding!
The Sacrament of Matrimony is the covenant by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership for life. It is, by its nature, ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring. This covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. For couples who are preparing for marriage, comprehensive, high-quality marriage preparation is essential in helping couples work through the questions and challenges that will arise after they marry.
Please do not set a wedding date until you have had your initial meeting with our deacon.
The marriage preparation process involves (1) Couple inventory/questionnaire and follow-up sessions; (2) Marriage preparation classes or retreat; and (3) Natural Family Planning (NFP) course. This process will be discussed in greater detail at the initial meeting with our Deacon. More information is also available on the Archdiocese of Denver website at: http://archden.org/eflm/marriage/
Wedding dates are booked by the parish office on a first come, first served basis but should not be scheduled until after your initial meeting with our deacon. Church law allows weddings to be held during most days of the year, except the Holy Week Triduum. However, it is preferable that weddings not be scheduled during the Lenten season. Weddings are celebrated on Saturdays at Blessed Sacrament at 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:30pm, or 6:30pm. Rehearsals are scheduled on the preceding Friday at 5:30pm.
The parish has its own cantor and organist. The cantor (music director) will assist the couple in their selection of music appropriate to this sacrament. If an outside musician is desired, please discuss this with our music director, deacon or pastor.
A Nuptial Mass is the usual form of celebration for the Sacrament of Marriage between two Catholics. A marriage between a Catholic and a baptized Christian (or an unbaptized person) is celebrated outside of Mass. The Archdiocese of Denver does not permit outdoor weddings. You may wish have a visiting priest or deacon celebrate your marriage ceremony at Blessed Sacrament. Please communicate this request at your initial meeting with Deacon Jerry.
